Ensure free movement of the Impact bead adjustment block which should move
without forcing the Impact bead adjustment screw.

11 Turn the Impact bead adjustment screw fully clockwise. (Right hand image in
Figure 64 above).
From this position the Impact bead adjustment block can only be adjusted
away from the venturi.
Before you install a new impact bead or replace the nebulizer:
Always inspect the impact bead for pitting, cracks or breaks.
The efficiency of the impact bead can be degraded by surface cracks, pitting
and the accumulation of solid material. The reduction in bead efficiency can
cause lower absorbance readings and noisy signals.
Ensure the Impact bead adjustment screw operates properly.
12 If necessary, remove the old impact bead as described in the previous section.
13 Carefully insert the tail of the Impact bead through the nebulizer block hole
into the Impact bead adjustment block.
The impact bead adjuster block must be positioned as far as possible to the edge
closest to the impact bead adjuster. Refer to the right-hand image in Figure 66
above.
This will avoid breaking the impact bead after installation.
