In-Camera Filter Module IFM-1 223
1. Have the correct IFM-1 Starter Kit available
2. Ensure a clean, dust-and-moisture-free environment
3. Wear fresh rubber gloves to avoid fingerprints and smear
4. Place the camera on a flat, level and safe surface
5. Never touch the sensor
6. Work very carefully due to the delicate nature of tools/components
7. Safely store all tools/components afterwards
8. Shim you camera exactly to required flange focal depth
9. Check each lens mounting depth and flange shape
10. Use only lenses within allowed dimensions

Only proper shimming will ensure the maximum allowable lens
mounting depth (see Chapter Maximum lens mounting depth on page
221):
 For safe use of in-camera filters, always prepare your camera
with the original IFM-1 Shim

17.1.1.4 Available IFM-1 and FSND Filter Sets
IFM-1 equipment enables in-camera filtration for both ALEXA XT and
ALEXA Classic cameras (except ALEXA Studio and ALEXA XT Studio).
Four different sets are available:
1. Internal Filter Module (IFM-1) Set: Upgrade set for ALEXA, ALEXA
Plus, ALEXA Plus 4:3 and ALEXA M, includes the FSND Filter Set
(Basic)
2. FSND Filter Set (Basic): Basic set of filters and tools, suitable for all
ALEXA XT models, except ALEXA XT Studio
3. FSND Filter Set (Completion): Complementary set of filters
4. FSND Filter Set (Full): Complete set of filters and tools, suitable for
ALEXA XT
The minimum requirement for using internal filters is either set 1 or set
2, which offer a range of basic in-camera filters and allow proper
preparation of the camera.
The FSND Filter Set (Completion) adds all remaining FSND filters and is
suitable for both ALEXA Classic and ALEXA XT models.
The FSND Filter Set (Full) offers the whole range of FSND filters and is
only suitable for ALEXA XT models.
17.1.2 Preparing Internal Filtration
All ALEXA XT models (except ALEXA XT Studio) have a pre-installed
IFM-1 Bottom Ring and IFM-1 Reflex Tube. For ALEXA Classic cameras,
both components are part of the IFM-1 Set.
