Troubleshooting
My caller ID isn’t working.
f Caller ID is a subscription service. You must subscribe to this service from
your telephone service provider for this feature to work on your phone.
f The caller may be calling from an area that supports caller ID.
f Both your and your caller’s telephone service providers must use caller ID
compatible equipment.
f If you subscribe to high-speed Internet service (DSL - digital subscriber
line) through your telephone line, you must install a DSL lter between
the telephone line cord and the telephone wall jack (page 10). The lter
prevents noise and caller ID problems resulting from DSL interference.
Please contact your DSL service provider for more information about
DSL lters.
System does not receive caller ID when on a call.
f Make sure you subscribe to caller ID with call waiting features from your
telephone service provider. Caller ID features works only if both you and
the caller are in areas oering caller ID service, and if both telephone
service providers use compatible equipment.
System screens all my incoming calls.
f Smart call blocker is set to on by default. If your directory, allow list, block
list, and star name list are empty, all calls will be classied as unknown calls.
The telephone will screen all incoming calls and asks callers to announce
their names or press the pound key (#). We recommend that you set up
your directory, allow list, block list, and star name list before using your
telephone with the Smart call blocker feature. See Block list on page
117, Allow list on page 123, and Star name list on page 129.
f To turn Smart call blocker o, see Set Smart call blocker on/o on page
113.
My telephone blocks calls from someone I know.
f You may have saved the caller’s number in your block list. To remove the
number from the block list, see Delete a block entry on page 122.
