DSP Analysis
In ad di tion to the hard ware-im ple mented An a log An a lyzer, the 2700 se ries
pro vides a num ber of soft ware-im ple mented anal y sis tools in the Dig i tal An a -
lyzer panel. These tools an a lyze dig i tal do main sig nals us ing dig i tal sig nal
pro cess ing (DSP). The DSP Au dio An a lyzer, which of fers sim i lar ca pa bil i ties
to the An a log An a lyzer, is one ex am ple. An other is the FFT Spec trum An a -
lyzer, which we will look at next.
An a log sig nals must be con verted from the an a log do main to the dig i tal do -
main for DSP anal y sis. When per form ing dig i tal anal y sis of an a log sig nals, the
2700 se ries uses the in put cir cuits of the An a log An a lyzer for in ter face and
rang ing, and then routes the an a log sig nals to an an a log-to-dig i tal con verter
(ADC) be fore ap ply ing them to the Dig i tal An a lyzer for DSP anal y sis.
The FFT Spectrum Analyzer
Open the Dig i tal An a lyzer panel by choos ing Panels > Dig i tal An a lyzer or
by click ing the Dig i tal An a lyzer but ton.
At the top of the Dig i tal An a lyzer panel is a drop-down list of the DSP anal -
y sis tools avail able in the 2700 se ries.
Up to this point, we have been us ing the hard ware-im ple mented An a log
An a lyzer to make mea sure ments. We will now take a look at the FFT Spec -
trum An a lyzer. This anal y sis tool dis plays au dio sig nals in time (os cil lo scope-
style) and in fre quency (spec trum an a lyzer-style). It op er ates in a dif fer ent
fash ion from the An a log An a lyzer, as ex plained next.
