6.3 Troubleshooting display
If the display does not turn on:
1. Check the connection to the vehicle battery.
2. Check the polarity.
3. A voltage of the vehicle battery below 1 Volt is not
detected by
BAT 115
. Fully charge the battery and
retest.
4. Replace batteries of
BAT 115
.
6.4 Troubleshooting printer
Message
Action to be taken
NO PAPER Printer is out of thermal paper.
R Check that the printer paper is inserted
correctly.
R Insert new roll of paper.
1. Connect the BAT 115 to the battery to be tested.
2. Select SYSTEM TEST with
and confirm with E.
3. Switch off the consumer and start the engine.
4. The evaluation of the starting process and the
starting voltage are displayed on
BAT 115
.
5. Start the further tests (generator test, generator
idle voltage test, battery harmonic content test and
generator charging voltage test) with E and follow
the instructions on the display.
i If a test vehicle is equipped with a charging
regulated system and its battery is fully charged,
an accelerating engine rpm can not be detected by
the system (because the alternator automatically
switched off for reducing fuel consumption). In this
case charging system test is impossible.
i If a system test is performed on a 24V battery,
it must be switched to 12V for printing. After
reconnecting, the 24V system test can be printed
out.
5.6 Additional test messages
For a more decisive result, the
BAT 115
may prompt
you for additional information. The messages in the
following table may appear before the
BAT 115
can
display a result.
Test message
Action to be taken
ABOVE 32°F/0°C ? Select ambient temperature above or
below 0 C (32 F).
BATTERY CHARGED ? Query as to whether the vehicle battery
was charged before the test.
SURFACE CHARGE Note: Surface tension is a chemical
reaction between solid and liquid in
the battery. It is generated when the
battery is fully charged.
Before the test, let the battery rest
for about one hour or stress it for
3-5minutes; e.g. switch on the low
beam of the headlights.
TEST IN VEHICLE? Query as to whether the battery
test was carried out in the installed
condition?
VOLTAGE UNSTABLE Weak battery. Battery should be
charged and retested.
CHECK CLAMPS Battery clamps are not making good
contact with battery terminals.
