3-1 Start-up and Operation of Flowmeter
a. After the owmeter has been properly installed in the process, it is ready
for operation. When initiating ow, slowly open the valve to avoid a ow
surge. Bypass is a help in bringing the ow on smoothly. Avoid starting a
pump to supply the owmeter without the use of a valve upstream of the
owmeter.
b. Check for leaks around the meter inlet and outlet connections. If no
leaks are present, bring the system up to operating pressure.
c. At no ow condition the indicator pointer should align with the “R” mark
on the scale. If necessary, adjust the pointer as per directions in the
Maintenance Section 4.
