Speed Control
The unit can operate in either manual or
automatic speed mode.
In manual mode, the machine runs at the speed
shown on the CHI Panel display. In auto mode,
the machine’s speed is automatically controlled
by the Chicago
®
ironer or Chicago encoder
behind it.
To switch between manual and automatic
modes refer to the
Adjustments section, PGM
SELECTION subsection. Set PWM to 0 for
AUTO and set PWM to 1 for manual.

from the ironer to operate.

When running in manual mode, press the
SPEED / buttons at the bottom of the CHI
panel to adjust the speed setting.
NOTE: Manual mode speed
adjustments should be temporary.
To permanently set the speed for
a specific program, refer to the
Programming section.
As a general rule, start with the spreader/feeder
speed set slightly slower than the ironer speed,
up to five feet per minute.
If the feeder is set too fast, the flatwork will
bunch as it feeds into the ironer. If the speed is
set too slow, the flatwork will be excessively
stretched.
