Spread/Feed Function Check
Use a sheet or similar piece of flatwork to
test the feeder. Press a STATION button to
select a program. Stand clear of all moving
parts and watch for the following:
The piece is carried upward by the
input conveyor (Figure 2-32) and into
the rollers.
The transfer clamp for that station
(Figure 2-33) moves forward and grabs
the atwork as close as 1-1½” from
the corners.
The transfer clamp moves to the center
of the machine so the spreader clamps
can grab the piece.
At the same time, the side conveyor
belt (Figure 2-34, A) rotates toward
the middle of the machine, helping
to convey the bottom of the piece.
As the piece reaches the center, the
transfer conveyor ribbons (Figure
2-34, B) carry the bottom of the
piece toward the rear of the unit.
The spreader clamps (Figure 2-35) take
the piece from the transfer clamps.
They move apart toward the ends of the
unit. At the same time, the piece moves
between the lower spreader belts which
help spread and smooth the flatwork.
