Solving Keyboard Problems
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Embedded numeric
keypad on the
computer keyboard
is disabled
Num Lock function is
off.
Press Fn+Num Lk to
enable the embedded
numeric keypad.
Screen is on and
keyboard is locked
You initiated
QuickLock.
Enter your power-on
password to exit
QuickLock.
External keyboard
does not work
You connected the
external keyboard
while the computer
was still turned on.
Turn off the computer,
reconnect the external
keyboard, then turn on
the computer.
Solving Memory Problems
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Memory counting
during Power-On
Self-Test (POST) is
incorrect
Memory board is
installed incorrectly.
Ensure that the memory
board is installed
correctly.
Insufficient memory
error during
operation
Too many terminate-
and-stay resident
(TSR) applications
are running
simultaneously.
Close any TSR
applications that you
do not need.
System ran out of
memory for the
application.
Check the
documentation that came
with the application for
memory requirements
and add more memory to
the computer, if needed.
