2.2 Precautionary Measures
CAUTION!
The fire detection system contains devices sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
For installation and service work involving central components, always wear an
antistatic wrist strap or ground bracelet to avoid any electrostatic discharge.
Storage and transport
Storage and transport of the CFD5000 fire detection system and spare parts must
be carried out according to NORSOK Preservation standard Z-006. For storage
temperature see the data sheets.
Considerations to improve safety
In order to reduce risks and maintain a high safety level of the fire detection
system, consider the following precautionary measures.
The user shall monitor fault alarms and take appropriate action based on
remedy for the specified fault code.
The user shall monitor and act on warning messages according to the presented
information about the state of the system. (Warnings are not as serious as faults
and only of informative nature.)
To secure the functionality of the fire detection system only authorised persons
should be given access to disablement or test mode privileges in the system.
Check for contaminated detectors. Use the Control panel menu system to study
a list showing in which condition the detectors are.
Perform visual inspection of all fire detectors as often as needed to find
detectors which has deliberately been covered (vandalised). A covered detector
can’t detect a fire (by means of smoke, heat or flames) and the fire detection
system can't detect if a detector has been covered and report this as a fault.
If a loop unit is removed it has to be replaced as soon as possible in order to
secure the functionality of the fire detection system. During repair time the
continuing safety shall be ensured by additional measures and constraints (fire
watch, restrict access to the affected area, etc.).
