The service personnel are responsible to maintain documentation for all performed
repair and maintenance activities. The documentation must be kept up to date in a
chronological order and include relevant information according to IEC 61508-1,
7.7.2.1g and 7.15.2.3

Please follow the recommendations for remedy in the Fault code list.
•
The Common History list with pre-alarms, fire alarms, fault alarms,
disablements, warnings, and I/Os can be a useful tool during service and
maintenance work.

In order to secure an effective maintenance level in case of a prompt need for
replacement it is recommended to keep modules and loop units as spare parts
for the fire detection system.
5.2 Wrong Number of Loop Units
CAUTION!
A fault alarm concerning a wrong loop unit address has to be dealt with promptly.
A correct address is essential to communicate alarms from the loop unit to the
central unit.
The problem may depend on one of the causes listed below.

Cause Remedy
Less loop units found than configured. Install the missing loop units or add the missing
loop unit in the configuration file. Before the
configuration file is changed an analysis shall be
made and documented of why the number of
loop units is wrong. Also make and document an
analysis of what impact adding or deleting the
missing loop unit in the configuration file might
have.
More loop units found than configured. Compare the found loop units with the
configuration file. Make a documented analysis
of why the number of loop units is wrong. Also
make a documented analysis of what impact
adding or deleting the loop unit in the
configuration file might have.
Wrong address of a loop unit. Set the correct address on the loop unit.
Two or more loop units with the same
address.
Find the unit that has the wrong address (same as
another unit on the same loop-line) and set the
correct address.
Loop unit is defect. Replace the loop unit. Remember to set the
address and, when applicable, the ID on the
replacement unit according to the defect unit.
Address error
Use Menu » 6 Service Menu » 5 Loops, choose the relevant loop, and then press
“2=Loop Units” to list all found units on the loop. Compare the found loop units
with the ones included in the configuration file.
