CAUTION!
Other test equipment, for example, a cigarette lighter or a heating gun should not be
used. This could damage the detector.
3.4.3.3 Smoke Detectors
Use appropriate test equipment, available at your authorised dealer. See section
Approved Test Equipment, page 10
To test smoke detection use either Testifire or Solo330.
The system shall have been powered for at least 2 minutes to make sure that it has
completed its start-up cycle.
1 Each detector comes delivered with a
transparent plastic detector cap. Partially cover
the detector with the detector cap, as shown in
the figure to the right. In case the detector cap is
not available, some other device can be used to
keep smoke from dispersing.
2 Spray test smoke in the opening closest to the
detector base, from a distance of about 5 cm for
1 second. After spraying, quickly fit the cap
over the detector to retain the test gas around the
detector, as shown in the figure to the right.
Do not spray for more than 1 second at a time in
order to avoid contamination of the smoke
chamber. The test gas can become very cold and
leave a residue if sprayed for too long.
3 Wait for up to 25 seconds. If the red fire
indication light does not activate, repeat step 1
up to 2 more times with at least 25 seconds
interval.
