4 Pass criteria:
1. The red fire indication light on the detector will activate.
2. The central unit screen will indicate an alarm and show the location of the
detector.
3. The train side user interface will indicate a fire alarm.
5 Repeat step 1-4 for all installed detectors.
6 Wait a few moments for the smoke to clear from the detector chamber and then reset all
the alarms. A small airflow through the detector is necessary to clear the smoke
chamber.
7 Pass criteria: All alarm indications clear.
If any of the pass criteria are not met, the failing detector must be replaced. The
defective detector shall be sent to Consilium Marine & Safety for investigation.
Repeat this test (except step 5) after replacement of the detector.
NOTE!
Remember to remove the detector cap. The smoke detector will not function
properly with the cap fitted.
3.4.3.4 Aspirating Smoke Detectors
Test smoke detection
Use appropriate test equipment, available at your authorised dealer. See section
Approved Test Equipment, page 10.
To test smoke detection use either Testifier or Solo330
1 Spray test gas in the hose air inlet during 1second.
2 Wait 10 seconds until new gas is sprayed during 1second, unless the detector has
indicated alarm.
3 Repeat this procedure until the detector
indicates alarm on the system control panel.
If the detector fails to alarm after
three attempts the remedy could be to
check the inlet sampling pipe for
obstructions or to replace the detector.
CAUTION!
If other test methods or test equipment are used, make sure not to damage the
detector.
Test the air-circuit
Test that the air-circuit from inlet to outlet is air-tight.
1 Block the inlet sampling pipe until the detector indicates fault on the system control
panel.
2 Repeat this procedure for the outlet sampling
pipe.
If the detector fails to alarm the
remedy could be to check where the
air-circuit from inlet to outlet fails to
be air-tight.
