11.5.6 Labeling Sensitivity (LAB SENS) Adjustment
a. Label sensor indicates the sensitivity of the backing paper translucency or opacity; the sensitivity of
the label sensor can be adjusted.
b. Owing to the different product applied, the label thickness, label material and the opacity of labels
are also different. The label sensitivity values are automatically measured by SelfSet
TM
, no
adjustment is required.
c. Never do the sensitivity adjustments unless special condition. Verify it by the following steps:
MEMORY: 01
F2 SENSITVY:
F3 LAB LENS:
d. F2 SENSITVY: The backing paper transmittance is measured by the sensor.
F3 LAB LENS: The backing paper transmittance on a label roll varies within a certain range, a
reference value (F3 LAB SENS) is established by SelfSet
TM
to distinguish labels from backing paper.
(e.g. If the measured transmittance of the backing paper is 60, a reference value of 90 is
established, the transmittance readings fewer than 90 will be considered as backing paper, the
readings above 90 are considered as labels.)
A signal is emitted when sensor detects a backing paper passing through it, the gap between two
labels is then determined.
e. Only the following two situations where the adjustments of F3 LAB SENS are required:
- The varying transmittance value of the backing paper presents a peak value higher than the
reference value; the sensor will fail to detect the gap between labels, and two or more labels will be
dispensed at a time, then, F3 LAB SENS value should be increased in this case. (e.g. If the
reference value is established as 90, but some of the backing paper values are 95, in this case, the
reference value F3 LAB SENS should be up to 125.)
- The varying transmittance value of the labels presents a minimum value lower than the reference
value, the thinner label will be mistaken as gaps, and labels may be dispensed incompletely. (e.g. If
the reference value is established as 90, but some of the labels values are 85, F3 LAB SENS value
should be decreased in this case, the reference value F3 LAB SENS should be down to 60.)
