These bed heights and volumes are achievable using a packing extension during consolidation of the bed (sedimen-
tation). Total amount of 75% slurry must fit into column + extension with adapter.

The bed height and volume are achievable when retaining the extension tube during the final packing step. Adapter
must seal at least 5 cm into the column tube to avoid high tensions on glass tube.
