APPENDIX A: COMMUNICATION PORTS
COM1 PORT OPTIONS
NOTE: COM 1 port requires a standard
DTE/DCE RS 232 cable without
a null modem when connecting
to a printer or computer.
The COM1 Port (refer to Table 2) is a serial port conforming to the EIA/TIA
RS-232-E standard and configured as Data Communication Equipment
(DCE). Data out is RS-232-E levels and parity with adjustable Format, Data
Setup and Control.
COM1 PIN ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
COM1 (refer to Table 3) is configured as Data Communication Equipment
(DCE).
Protective Ground (pin 1) – Electrically connected to frame.
Received Data (pin 3) – Transmitted data from the GAC 2100.
Data Set Ready (pin 6) – ON (positive voltage) whenever the
GAC 2100 is powered.
Signal Ground (pin 7) – Common reference for all other COM1 signals.
Received Line Signal Detector (pin 8) – ON (positive voltage)
whenever the GAC 2100 is powered.
Busy (pin 11) – Gates the transmission of data from the GAC 2100. The
COM1 Control Lead Setup screen may be configured ACTIVE (+),
ACTIVE (–) or IGNORE. When the line is inactive, up to 2048
characters are buffered. If not connected, configure this line as
IGNORE.
