7.8 Special salinity functions
(1) Setting salinity units
Change salinity unit setting. You can select from % (converted to NaCl) and no unit (PSS: practical
salinity).
〔Notes〕• The electrical conductivity is converted to NaCl concentration in the salinity measurement (NaCl).
• The salinity measurement (PSS)(practical salinity) is calculated per the Practical Salinity Scale o
1978 (UNESCO REPORT #37,1981).
Steps for setting salinity unit

[Measurement Screen] in “Measurement State” (with
turned off) .

pane of the [Measurement Screen] in “Measurement State”

are flashing, press or on the
control panel for several times until
starts flashing.

on the control panel for several times
until “CALC” is shown in the data number indication area.

Select salinity unit

panel to start the salinity unit flashing.

Check the set value for salinity unit and press
on the control panel. After checking, return to
[Measurement Screen].
