6.2 Calibration of Turbidity
(1) Key points of Turbidity Calibration
(a) Use the following turbidity calibrating procedures specifically for specific purposes.
• One-touch zero calibration ……A usual calibration required to be performed before
measurement. >> “6.2 (2) One-Touch Zero Calibration of Turbidity”
• Span calibration……A calibration to be performed, in addition to the one-touch zero
calibration, when measured values show discrepancy or when the obtained value needs to be
made compatible with a value from other method. >> “6.2 (3) Span Calibration of Turbidity”
(b) The units for measuring turbidity are “NTU” which is used when formazin is taken as the
standard substance, and “mg/L” which is used when refined kaolin is taken as the standard
substance. The default is “NTU”. This can be changed. If you perform calibration using refined
kaolin as the standard substance, change the measurement unit to “mg/L” before starting the
calibration. >> “7.6 (1) Changing turbidity units”
(c) If you use this instrument for the first time after purchase of it, change it in the course of “5.2
Measurement Procedure”, referring to “6.2 (2) One-Touch Zero Calibration of Turbidity”.
(d) If the interval memory is in effect ( on the screen is blinking or lighting), release the
interval memory. (As default it is not in.) >> “7.3 (2) Changing the interval method and time “
INT. symbol
(e) Prior to calibration, check if maintenance inspection is routinely carried out. If not, carry it out
before calibration. >> 9. Maintenance the inspections
【
IMPORTANT
】
•
If maintenance inspections such as “Taking care of the electrode”
have not been performed, proper calibration may not be performed.
