Connection of the instrument 24
Manual econ sens3 Version 3.0
5.8 Multiple I/O connection
The econ sens3 Multifunctional Measuring Instrument includes four independent so-called multiple I/O
ports that can be used to transfer the measurement data; for example, to a higher-level energy
monitoring system. The multiple I/O ports are electrically isolated from the rest of the instrument and
can be defined both as inputs and outputs and represent different connection scenarios. The different
input and output configurations are shown in the subsequent subchapters. The software-side
configuration is found in Chapter 8.10.
The port I/O 1 is activated for use as S0 interface; further use of the multiple I/O terminal requires the
LOG upgrade of econ sens3.
.
Cable recommendation for multiple I/O connections
In principle, a two core or multi core and shielded cable is suitable as transmission cable for the
multiple I/Os. Cat 5 or higher network cables or an EIB cable such as Belden YE00820 are also
suitable.
Attention!
Connected cables with a length >30m must be shielded and the shield must be connected as
described in Chapter 5.9. The use of shielded cables is recommended in general.
Attention!
Inadmissible voltages
The maximum allowable currents and voltages that can be connected to the multiple I/O ports are
found in the subsequent chapters and in the technical data.
