Manual econ sens3 Version 3.0
Open collector output
The multiple I/O ports of the econ sens3 can be configured as open collector outputs (S0). Fig. 12
shows the circuit diagram for this output configuration.
Open collector operation requires an
external auxiliary voltage of up to 30
VDC. The maximum current through the
Der max. transistor is limited on the hardware
side to 20 mA. Select the external
resistor in such a way that it does not
exceed this current through the
transistor!
Application example for open collector output
The consumption values measured by the econ sens3 are output as a sequence of pulses over pulse
outputs IO1 to IO4 (open collector NPN outputs). Every pulse emitted has a length of 50 ms and
corresponds to a specific amount of energy in Wh. This is configurable over the web interface. (See
details under Operation and Parameterization in Chapter 8). The standard value for this impulse
weighting is roughly 10 Wh/impulse, which corresponds to an output of 100 imp/kWh.
The pulse outputs are used for automated collection of energy consumption values via data logger;
e.g., the econ unit. Fig. 13 shows the assignment of the impulse interface, as well as a possible
connection diagram.
