5.5.1 Edit global encryption key
Select menu choice 1. Global enc. key using Up/Down keys and press OK key.
The global encryption key is used by meters configured to use the global key for encryption/decryption.
This is useful when multiple meters have the same encryption key.
The encryption key is used to decrypt the telegrams received from the wireless M-Bus slave, which
enables standard wired M-Bus readout. If a meter is sending encrypted telegrams and there is no/wrong
encryption key entered, the readout on the wired M-Bus interface will return a container telegram with
encrypted data. This kind of container telegram is normally not readable by a standard M-Bus readout
software.
The encryption key can be obtained by the manufacturer of the wireless M-Bus slave.
