4 Perform a Test
2 CDN-DOW-DATA-HF
Connect the CDN with three 0.5 m MC-cables to the generator. Two twisted cables for High and
Low should be connected to the Slow DOW direct output; the third cable should be connected to
the PE CDN output. For optimal results one should try to twist the PE cable as well with the two
other cables.
3 Data line selection
You can select to couple either on 4 lines (2 pairs) or on 8 lines (4 pairs) by placing the MC- bridge
L4 or L8.
All datalines (pairs) can be turned On or Off by placing the MC-bridges X1-X8. These additional
MC ports allows access to individual datalines (pairs) without the need for special cabling.
In a standard test setup, the MC-Bridges X1-X8 are all plugged in.
4 Coupling selection
Low can be connected to PE by placing MC-bridge P1.
Common Mode 1 according to IEC 60255-26
Coupling of one pair to High, all other lines to Low, i.e. one other pair in case of two pairs,
and three other pairs in case of four pairs. Low is not connected to PE. P1 is unplugged.
Common Mode 2 according to IEC 60255-26
Coupling of one pair to High, all other lines to Low, i.e. one other pair in case of two pairs,
and three other pairs in case of four pairs. Low is connected to PE. P1 is plugged in.
Individual pairs can be selected by pairwise placing of MC-bridges HX and L4X (in case of 4 lines)
or L8X (in case of 8 lines), for example, to couple the first pair to High, MC-bridges H1/H2 should
be placed. In case of 4 lines, one other pair can then be coupled to Low by placing MC-bridges
L43/L44, L45/L46, or L47/L48. In case of 8 lines, all other pairs should be coupled to Low by
placing MC-bridges L83-L88. Unused bridges can be stored in the parking position on the side.
5 Filter selection
Depending on which coupling is performed different filter configurations need to be selected, this
can be done by placing the MC-bridge F1 or F2, or no filter at all.
No filter for 100 kHz Common Mode 2
Filter1 (F1) for 100 kHz Common Mode 1
Filter2 (F2) for 1 MHz Common Mode 1 and Common Mode 2
6 ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L
The optional adapter box enables the direct connection of the EUT or the Auxiliary Equipment
with a RJ45 connector.
Due to the small pin spacing of the standard RJ45-connector, the maximum voltage level
is reduced to 1500 V.
7 EUT
Connect the EUT to the output of the CDN, either via MC-connector cables, or you can connect
your Ethernet equipment directly using the ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L.
8 Auxiliary Equipment
Connect the AE to the input of the CDN, either via MC-connector cables, or you can connect your
Ethernet equipment directly using the ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L.
