4 Perform a Test
You can select to couple either on 4 lines (2 pairs) or on 8 lines (4 pairs). Coupling on 4 lines can
be selected by placing the MC-bridge L4, as well as the four MC-bridges J41-J44. Coupling on 8
lines can be selected by placing the MC-bridge L8, as well as the eight MC-bridges J81-J88. All
datalines (pairs) can be turned On or Off by placing the MC-bridges X1-X8. These additional MC
ports allows access to individual datalines (pairs) without the need for special cabling.
In a standard test setup, the MC-Bridges X1-X8 are all plugged in.
4 Filter selection
Depending on which coupling is performed different filter configurations need to be selected, this
can be done by placing the MC-bridges at positions F1 and/or F2. The following four filter
configurations are used:
• For 100 kHz on 8 lines, no filter is used
• For 1 MHz on 8 lines, select Filter 1 by placing a MC-bridge at position F1
• For 100 kHz on 4 Lines, select filter 2 by placing a MC-bridge at position F2
• For 1 MHz on 4 Lines, select both filters 1 and 2, by placing the MC-bridge 3 at positions
F1+F2
5 ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L
The optional adapter box enables the direct connection of the EUT or the Auxiliary Equipment
with a RJ45 connector.
Due to the small pin spacing of the standard RJ45-connector, the maximum voltage level
is reduced to 1500 V.
6 EUT
Connect the EUT to the output of the CDN, either via MC-connector cables, or you can connect
your Ethernet equipment directly using the ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L.
8 Auxiliary Equipment
Connect the AE to the input of the CDN, either via MC-connector cables, or you can connect your
Ethernet equipment directly using the ADAPTER BOX RJ45-8L.
