The shaft encoder mounted on the motor shaft is used for commutation of a 3-phase synchronous
motor and as an actual-value recorder for the built-in speed and position c ontroller. The following en-
coders are supported depe nding on the motor type:
– absolute encoder (single-turn, multi-turn)
– digital EnDat 2.1 or 2.2 interface, digital angle information only (analogue SIN-COS signals from the
encoders are not suppor ted)
– maximum current consumption of 200 mA.
Supply voltage for the encoders is taken from the internal +5 V logic supply. The supply voltage toler-
ance is limited downwards. Voltage drops on the connecting cable are not compensated.
Use of third-party cables
– Do uble wiring of the supply c able:
The wiring used for the supply cables is to be do uble d depending on current consump-
tion and cable length. Example:
when using encoder wiring that exhibits a cable diameter of 0.5 mm
2
,acablelengthof
25 m (50 m supply and return), and a current consumption of 200 mA, the voltage
drop for a single wiring configuration is Udiff ~ 0.36 V. A double wiring configura-
tion is required (Udiff ~ 0.18 V).
– Screening:
• Run the encoder cable so it is screened
• Twist differential (unscreened) signal cables in pairs (DATA/#DATA, SCLK/#SCLK,
+5 V/0 V)
• Apply the screening to the plug housing on the motor and controller side.
For maximum resistance to interference:
• Use cables with individually twisted and screened pairs
• Apply c able screening of the screened pairs to c onnection [X 2.3]
• Apply the complete screening to the plug housing on the motor and c ontroller side.
