Histogram Bin Sizes: This section allows the user to modify the bin sizes for the Histograms displayed
on the Main Window. The bin sizes that can be adjusted include:
· Diameter
· Aspect Ratio or Transparency
· Fluorescence or Scatter
· Capture Position (X or Y)
· Intensity or Edge Gradient
Main Window Settings… Summary Statistics
Calculated Values: The user may select which values to display in the columns of the Summary
Statistics grid on the Main Window in this section. Values to display include:
· Mean
· Minimum
· Maximum
· Standard Deviation
· Coefficient of Variation
· D10-D25-D50(Median)-D75-D90
D Values: These values are related to standard sieve techniques and equipment. The Dn value is the
value such that n% of the measured values are smaller than Dn and (100 – n)% of the measured values
are larger than Dn. For example, the D10 value for diameter is the value such that 10% of the sample
particles have a smaller diameter than D10 and 90% have a larger diameter than D10. Similarly, the
D10 value for volume is the value such that 10% of the sample particles have a smaller volume than
D10 and 90% have a larger volume than D10.
D[4,3] (ABD) and D[4,3] (ESD) Values: These values (the volume moment mean of the particle) are
the mean diameter computed by weighting the ABD or ESD diameter of each particle by the ABD or
ESD volume of the particle. Because of the weights, the particles with large volume influence the mean
more than the particles with small volume.
Summary Statistics: The user may select which values to display in the rows of the Summary
Statistics grid on the Main Window in this section. Values (41 total) to display include:
Area (ABD), Aspect Ratio, Average Blue, Average Green, Average Red, Capture X, Capture Y, Ch1
Area, Ch1 Peak, Ch1 Width, Ch2 Area, Ch2 Peak, Ch2 Width, Ch2/Ch1 Ratio, Circle Fit, Compactness,
Convex Perimeter, Diameter (ABD), Diameter (ESD), D[4,3] (ABD), D[4,3] (ESD), Edge Gradient,
Elongation, Image Height, Image Width, Intensity, Length, Perimeter, Ratio Blue/Green, Ratio
Red/Blue, Ratio Red/Green, Roughness, Scatter Area, Scatter Peak, Scatter Width, Sigma Intensity,
Sum Intensity, Transparency, Volume (ABD), Volume (ESD), Width
