5.3 Configuring the Server
This section contains information about configuring the server and installing the
operating system.
I Make sure that the energy saving functions are disabled in the BIOS Setup
during server operation.
5.3.1 Configuration with ServerStart
Configuring IME (RAID Level 1)
The server is equipped with an onboard SAS controller with Integrated Mirroring
Enhanced functionality. Configure IME before you begin with ServerStart.
I To configure Integrated Mirroring Enhanced the controller has its own
RAID-Select Utility. For further information see “Integrated Mirroring
User’s Guide“ on the ServerBooks DVD (choose Controllers from the
menu).
With the ServerStart-DVD provided, you can configure the server and install the
operating system in a convenient manner. The menu-guided configuration
includes the server configuration with the SCU and the RAID configuration with
the GAM (Global Array Manager).
I Descriptions of operating systems not covered in the RAID controller
manual are provided in the appropriate readme files on the driver
diskettes.
To find out how to operate ServerStart and for further information, refer to the
“PRIMERGY ServerView Suite - ServerStart“ user manual (see “Related Publi-
cations” on page 103).
If you use ServerStart, you can skip the following section on how to configure the
server and install the operating system. Continue with section “Starting up Hot-
Plug PCI Slots” on page 62.
