Switching the Server ON and OFF Preparation for Use and Operation
5.2 Switching the Server ON and OFF
V CAUTION!
If after switching ON the server there is nothing but flickering stripes on
the screen, switch the server OFF immediately (see section “Flickering
Stripes Across the Monitor” on page 69).
The ON/OFF button does not disconnect the server from the mains. To
disconnect from the mains completely, remove the power plug(s).
Switching the server ON
The power-on indicator (position 6 on figure 13 on page 50) lights orange
(standby mode).
– First system installation:
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 9 in figure 13 on page 50).
Ê Insert the ServerStart-DVD and/or an installation disk in the corre-
sponding drive.
Ê Follow the instructions on the monitor (see also section “Configuration
with ServerStart” on page 60 and/or section “Configuration without
ServerStart” on page 61).
– System already installed:
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 9 in figure 13 on page 50).
The server is switched ON, performs a system test and boots the
operating system.
Switching the server OFF
Power-on indicator (position 6 on figure 13 on page 50) lights green.
Ê Shut down the operating system in an orderly manner.
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 9 in figure 13 on page 50) and/or send a
corresponding control signal (see “Other ON/OFF options” on page 59).
The server switches OFF and remains in standby mode.
