2.5.30 Identification Commands
*IDN
SENSe:CORRection:EEPROM:TYPE?
SYSTem:VERSion
Identification commands ensure that the power meter and sensor are appropriate for the test program.
The sensor identification commands allow monitoring what model of sensor is attached and ensure that
the sensor has been properly calibrated to the power meter.
NOTE: Example programs for Identification Commands are contained in Appendix A of
this publication.
*IDN?
Example:
OUTPUT @PWR_MTR;*IDN? QUERY INST. MFGR & MODEL #
Response:
Giga-tronics, 58542,0,1.09 where 1.09 is software version
Description:
The *IDN? is the identify query command defined by IEEE 488.2. Upon receipt of this
command, the power meter will output a string that identifies itself as the Giga-tronics 58542
and indicates the firmware version number.
SENS:CORR:EEPROM:TYPE?
Syntax:
SENSe<sensor 1 or 2>:CORRection:EEPROM:TYPE?
Example:
OUTPUT @PWR_MTR;SENS1:CORR:EEPROM:TYPE? ! QUERIES SENSOR 1 EEPROM TYPE
Response:
80301,1818436 which is model number and serial number respectively
Description:
This command returns sensor model and serial number information.
SYST:VERSion
Syntax:
SYSTem:VERSion?
Example:
OUTPUT @PWR_MTR;SYST:VERS? ! QUERIES SCPI VERSION
Response:
1995.0
Description:
This query returns the compiled SCPI version.
