1.2.2 Safety Information
■ WHEN REMOVING HYDRAULIC LINES, FITTINGS OR COMPONENTS:
● ALWAYS WEAR APPROPRIATE PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
● REFER TO ENERGY CONTROL PROCEDURE TO REMOVE MACHINE
FROM ENERGY SOURCE WHEN PERFORMING MAINTENANCE, OR
MAKING ADJUSTMENTS OR REPAIRS TO MACHINE, UNLESS
OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED IN THIS SERVICE MANUAL.
● DEPRESSURIZE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM.
ESCAPING FLUID CAN WHIP HOSES AND EXPEL FITTINGS OR
COMPONENTS AT HIGH VELOCITY.
● NEVER REMOVE LINES, FITTINGS OR COMPONENTS WHEN
HYDRAULIC FLUID IS HOT. HOT HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE
SERIOUS BURNS.
● REMOVE LINES, FITTINGS OR COMPONENTS SLOWLY TO RELEASE
ANY TRAPPED PRESSURE.
● IF INJURY RESULTS FROM ESCAPING FLUID, SEE A DOCTOR AT
ONCE; SERIOUS REACTION OR INFECTION MAY RESULT IF PROPER
MEDICAL ATTENTION IS NOT OBTAINED IMMEDIATELY.
■ ALWAYS RELEASE SERVICE BRAKES WHEN PARKING BRAKES ARE
APPLIED OR MACHINE MAY ROLL.
■ IF CERTAIN FAULT CONDITIONS OCCUR WHILE MACHINE IS OPERATING,
ENGINE MAY SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN OR BRAKES MAY SUDDENLY
APPLY.
■ WHEN A FAULT CONDITION HAS OCCURRED, DETERMINE NATURE OF
PROBLEM. CORRECT PROBLEM BEFORE CONTINUING TO OPERATE
MACHINE.
■ WHEN CHECKING RADIATOR OF AN ENGINE:
● ALWAYS WEAR APPROPRIATE PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
● DO NOT REMOVE RADIATOR CAP WHEN ENGINE IS HOT. EXPLOSIVE
RELEASE OF FLUIDS FROM PRESSURIZED COOLING SYSTEM CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS. WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOLS BELOW 120° F
(50° C) BEFORE REMOVING RADIATOR CAP.
● COVER RADIATOR FILLER CAP WITH A THICK CLOTH.
● SLOWLY TURN RADIATOR FILLER CAP TO FIRST POSITION TO
RELEASE PRESSURE.
● AFTER PRESSURE HAS BEEN RELEASED, REMOVE RADIATOR
FILLER CAP.
