3.7.1 Vibration sensors
HMA 11xx/18xx
The HMA 11xx/18xx is designed as a piezo vibration sensor with
integrated charge amplifier. The output voltage is proportional to
the vibration acceleration.
Sensitivity: 100 mV/g (HMA 1130/1140/1830) / 500 mV/g
(HMA 1135/1835).
The device is calibrated by the manufacturer using the sensors
supplied.
If sensors other than those supplied are used, the measured
value display may differ from the actual measured value.
A test and calibration certificate is enclosed with each device.
It is only valid for the pairing of device and sensor(s) shown on
the certificate (see serial numbers).
If a sensor is replaced, the device should be recalibrated by
the manufacturer. Otherwise, inaccurate measured values must
be expected.
When other makes of vibration sensor are connected,
the EC declaration of conformity on interference immunity
and emission may lose its validity.
3.7.1.1 Acceleration sensors
Acceleration sensors are also designed for certain measuring
ranges. Hofmann acceleration sensors, types 1130/1140, 1135,
1830 and 1835, must not be subjected to acceleration greater
than 50 g.
Such high acceleration levels can occur, for example, if a sensor
falls or if a magnetic base is used and it is not secure.
Large acceleration forces can destroy sensors permanently.
When using the sensors with magnets to measure the ob-
ject, it is particularly important that the sensors are placed
on it “softly”.
