4 Maintaining the MSD
To reinstall the ion source
To reinstall the ion source
Materials needed:
Gloves, clean, lint-free
large (8650-0030)
small (8650-0029)
Pliers, long-nose (8710-1094)
1 Slide the ion source into the source radiator.
2 Install and hand tighten the source thumbscrews.
Do not overtighten the thumbscrews.
3 Reconnect the 7 colored wires to the appropriate pins on the ion source.
4 Reconnect the source heater and temperature sensor wires to the pins on
the feedthrough board.
5 Close the vacuum manifold (page 56).
6 Pump down the MSD (page 58).

Blue Entrance lens
Orange Ion focus
White Filament 1 (top filament)
Red Repeller
Black Filament 2 (bottom filament)
