8 Expanding the E9000 Capacity
This section describes the basic requirements and methods of E9000 capacity expansion.
8.1 Precautions for Capacity Expansion
8.2 Adding Modules
This section describes how to add and upgrade the compute nodes, switch modules, fan
modules, and PSUs of the E9000.
8.3 Adding Components of Compute Nodes
Add the components of E9000 compute nodes, including CPUs, DIMMs, hard disks, and
mezzanine cards.
8.1 Precautions for Capacity Expansion
Server capacity expansion requirements include but are not limited to:
l The components must be genuine Huawei components and compatible with the specific
Huawei server model. For details about components supported by a specific compute
node or server, use the Intelligent Computing Compatibility Checker.
l Only maintenance engineers authorized by Huawei are allowed to expand capacity.
Avoid physical damage caused by ESD, collision, and scratches.
l Before expanding capacity, back up data and isolate the equipment from the network to
prevent data loss, service interruption, and network loops.
l After expanding capacity, upgrade software to prevent software incompatibility with new
components.
8.2 Adding Modules
This section describes how to add and upgrade the compute nodes, switch modules, fan
modules, and PSUs of the E9000.
