Busy Indicator
The Busy Indicator LED (green) 2 indicates when the DVD Drive is operating:
The LED is off when the DVD drive is on but not in use (with or without the disc loaded) or when the host issues a TEST
UNIT READY or GET EVENT STATUS NOTIFICATION command.
The LED is blinking during operation, including read, write, format, erase, eject, close, spin-up, and firmware download.
Rear View of the DVD Drive Assembly
The following shows the rear of the DVD Drive assembly.
Figure 1. Rear View of the DVD Drive Assembly
Note: The DVD Drive Assembly uses either SATA to SAS interface cards or SATA to USB interface cards that are attached to the
rear of the Slim Drive Tray. One SATA to SAS interface card or SATA to USB interface card is required for each DVD-RAM drive
installed in the DVD-RAM drive sled. These cards provide electrical power and signals from the host to the installed drives.
Depending on the interface card (SATA to SAS or SATA to USB), either one external SAS cable or one external USB cable is
required respectively for each DVD-RAM drive in order to attach the drives to the IBM POWER System.
Different DVD connection types available on the 7226 Storage

When Feature Code #1420 is selected, the customer receives one SAS connection port at the rear of the 7226 Storage
Enclosure for plugging in one SAS cable. See Figure 1.
