7.1.4 Combustion
The combustion for this appliance has been checked, adjusted and preset at
the factory for operation on the gas type defined on the appliance data plate.
Do not adjust the air/gas ratio valve. Having checked:
• That the boiler has been installed in accordance with these instructions;
• The integrity of the flue system and the flue seal, as described in § 5 and
the British Standards codes of practices, specifically BS 5440;
• The integrity of the boiler combustion circuit and the relevant seals, as
described in § 10.2 eg with a flue spillage mirror;
proceed to put the boiler into operation as follows:
1. Set up the boiler to operate at maximum rate as described in
2. With the boiler operating in the maximum rate condition check that
the CO2 value measured at the sampling point off the flue
adapter complies with the requirements as described in the § 8.8
Ensure that this inlet pressure can be obtained with all other gas
appliances in the property working.
7.1.5 Flue system
The flue system must be connected correctly to the appliance in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions. The flue termination should also be
checked. Where suitable access for a visual inspection of an existing flue
system has not been provided the appliance must not be commissioned and
it must be disconnected from the gas supply.
