Themediaparameterstellthermwarethecharacteristicsofthemedia
thatwillbeused,sotheprintoutwillbepositionedcorrectlyandgetthe
bestqualitypossible.
Media Size
Thesizeoftheprintableareaisdenedbythreeparameters;X-Start,
Width,andLength.
X-Start
Speciesthepositionoftheoriginalongthedotsontheprinthead.
ThedefaultX-startvaluepreventsprintingoutsidelabelswhentheliner
isslightlywiderthanthelabels.Ifyouwanttomaximizetheprintwidth,
resettheX-startvalueto0.
ByincreasingthevaluefortheX-startparameter,theoriginwillbe
movedoutwards,awayfromtheinneredgeofthemediapath.Inother
words,thelargerX-startvalue,thewiderinnermarginandthelessavail-
ableprintwidth.
Width
Speciesthewidthoftheprintableareainnumberofdotsfromthe
origin.Thus,thesumoftheX-startandwidthvaluesgivestheouter
marginoftheprintablearea.Thewidthshouldbesettopreventprinting
outsidethemedia,whichmayharmtheprinthead.
Length
Speciesthelengthoftheprintableareainnumberofdotsfromthe
originalongtheY-coordinateandallocatesmemoryspacefortwoidenti-
calimagebuffersintheprinter’stemporarymemory.
Thesizeofeachbuffercanbecalculatedusingthisformula:
Buffer size (bits) = [Print length in dots] x [Printhead width in dots]
Note:
Thetemporarymemoryhasotherfunctionsthatalso
requiresomememoryspace.Toobtainalongerprintarea,the
memorycanbeincreasedby
ttingalargerSDRAMSIMMon
theprinter’sCPUboardasdescribedintheServiceManual.
