TheprinterhasasocketontheCPUboardforconnectingabarcode
wandorscanner.Thesocketisaccessiblethroughaslotintheprinter’s
rearplate.
IfaCode128barcodethatcontainsthecharacterFNC3isreadviathis
port,thedatawillbetreatedasasetupstringandwillchangetheprint-
er’ssetupaccordingly.Asetupbarcodemaycontainasingleparameter
oracombinationofupto3or4setupparameters.Refertothe EasySet
BarCodeWandSetup manualformoreinformationonhowtoproduce
setupbarcodes.
Theprinterwillacknowledgethatabarcodehasbeensuccessfullyread
byemittingashortbeepsignal.
IfnoFNC3characterisfoundinthebarcode,thedatawillbestored
inabufferwhichcouldbereadbyspecifyingthe"wand:"device.The
bufferissmall,soitisrecommendedtouseshortbarcodedata(max.16
characters)andreadthebufferregularlytoavoidover
fl
ow.
Formoredemandingapplicationsorforreadingbarcodesotherthan
Code128,choosearegularbarcodescannerfromIntermec’swideprod-
uctrangeandconnectittoaserialport.
