7.3.2 PAGING
Normal paging (PA) is the second priority paging method within the MPA 1600 system.
7.3.2.1 PRIORITY
• PA overrides any audible entertainment channels within the system while acve.
• PA overrides any external entertainment systems by means of an entertainment mute signal while acve
(see chapter 4.4 and 9.3).
• PA overrides any volume controls (entertainment) while acve.
7.3.2.2 DESCRIPTION
PA messages are broadcast to a pre-programmed zone selecon or can be broadcast to specic zones via the zone selecon
buons for paging in separate areas.
The pre-programmed zone selecon typically includes all zones except sleeping areas.
Zone selecon is performed by pressing the relevant zone buons. The zone buons are toggled on or o for each buon
press. All zones are disabled by default, indicang that the pre-programmed zone selecon will be used.
Paging is iniated from the 1601, 1605, 1606, 1643 access panels by means of the PA buon.
The PA buon must remain acvated (pressed) for the duraon of the message. The paging is terminated with the buon is
released.
The PA is announced with an aenon tone. This tone is disnct from the emergency paging aenon tone to dierenate
the two types of paging.
In case a General Alarm is acve, the normal paging (PA) buon will not funcon. The EMPA buon must be used to
broadcast an EMPA during an alarm situaon.
Normal PA can also be acvated from external microphones or other similar equipment. In that case the pre-programmed
zone selecon is acvated.
The 1601/1605/1606/1643 access panels have integrated mute relays that is acvated during PA messages from that access
panel. Local speakers may be routed through this relay to avoid feedback.
The congured priority rules dene if it is possible for the access unit to iniate paging. If a higher priority access panel is
currently paging, the PA-buon indicator is lit red, indicang that no paging is possible from this access panel.
