Parking Brake
Routinely check the Parking Brake button to ensure it is
functioning properly:
1. Pull Parking Brake button (Figure 5-4).
2. If the brake is functioning correctly, the machine will
not move.

Oil Lines and Fittings
1. Refer to Preparing Machine for Maintenance on
Page 5-6 and park machine.
2. Check the machine for indications of oil leakage
around oil lines, hoses and ttings.
3. Tighten ttings as necessary. Replace damaged or
worn hoses and ttings promptly.
Air Intake Hoses
1. Refer to Preparing Machine for Maintenance on
Page 5-6 and park machine.
2. Check air intake hoses from the engine to the
air cleaner assembly, and from the air cleaner
assembly to the precleaner.
3. Check for cracked, dry rotted, loose, worn or
damaged hoses, tubes and clamps.
4. Tighten, repair or replace parts as needed.
Drive Belt
Belt drive systems are equipped with automatic (spring)
belt tensioners cannot be adjusted or repaired. The
automatic belt tensioner is designed to maintain proper
belt tension over the life of the belt. If the tensioner
spring tension is not within specications, replace the
tensioner assembly.
NOTE: Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for
more detailed information.
1. Refer to Preparing Machine for Maintenance on
Page 5-6 and park machine.
2. Inspect the belt frequently. Replace if stretched,
cracked or worn.
3. Check belt tension. See the Engine Operator’s
Manual for tension specications.
4. If belt is not within specications, replace it promptly.
Neutral Start System
1. Place drive lever in the FORWARD or REVERSE
position.
2. Turn ignition switch key clockwise to the START
position. Engine should not start in gear.
3. Repeat test with the direction lever in the opposite
direction. Engine should not start in gear.
DO NOT operate machine if the starter
cranks engine with the direction lever in gear. See
local dealer for neutral start system troubleshooting
and repair.
4. Place the direction lever in NEUTRAL and turn
ignition switch key clockwise to the START position.
Starter should crank engine.
