Drain, Flush and Fill Hydraulic
Oil Tank
1. Refer to Preparing Machine for Maintenance on
Page 5-6 and park machine.
2. Close the hydraulic tank supply line gate valves by
turning the valve handle counterclockwise.
DO NOT start machine while the
hydraulic oil tank supply line gate vales are closed.
Starting the engine will damage the hydraulic pump.
3. Remove the hydraulic oil strainer ll cap so air
ventilation assists drainage of oil.
4. Remove the drain plug and drain the hydraulic oil
into a suitable container. Dispose of oil properly.
5. Flush hydraulic tank completely.
6. Check the hydraulic suction strainer in bottom of the
hydraulic oil tank. Refer to Section 6, Page 6-9.
7. Reinstall drain plug.
8. Replace the hydraulic oil lter. (Figure 5-15)
9. Fill hydraulic oil tank to the proper level.
10. Reinstall the strainer ll cap.
11. Open hydraulic tank supply line gate valves by
turning valve clockwise.
12. Start engine and operate hydraulic control levers
several times.
13. Check the hydraulic oil sight gauge and add more
oil if necessary.
COMPONENT REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURES
Replace Batteries
Batteries create explosive gases
when charging. DO NOT expose these gases to
sparks or open ame during maintenance. Always
perform battery service in a well-ventilated area or
outside. Serious injury can occur from exploding
batteries.
1. Remove seat.
2. Remove the black ground (-) cable from the
negative (-) battery terminal, followed by the red (+)
cable from the positive (+) battery terminal. (Figure
5-16)

If the negative cable is grounded
during removal, sparks will not occur. If the positive
cable is grounded during removal, sparks will occur
and could ignite explosive gases.
3. Remove the hold down bar. (Figure 5-16)
4. Inspect the batteries for cracks, wear and damage
that could result in leaks.
5. Carefully remove the batteries from the battery
plate, noting battery position during removal.
