Toremovetheheatsinkandfanassembly,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage43.
3.Locatetheheatsinkandfanassembly.See“Locatingservercomponents”onpage32.
Note:Ifasecondmicroprocessorisinstalledintheserver,therewillalsobeaheatsinkandfan
assemblyinstalledabovethesecondmicroprocessor.
4.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
5.Dependingonwhichheatsinkandfanassemblyyouareremoving,dooneofthefollowing:
•Ifyouareremovingtheheatsinkandfanassemblyformicroprocessor1,disconnecttheheatsink
andfanassemblycablefromthesystemfan2connectoronthesystemboard.See“Locating
partsonthesystemboard”onpage33
.Then,removethefourscrews1thatsecuretheheat
sinkandfanassembly.
Note:Carefullyremovethefourscrewsfromthesystemboardtoavoidanypossibledamage.The
fourscrewsareintegratedpartsoftheheatsinkandfanassemblyandtheycannotberemoved
fromtheheatsinkandfanassembly.
