CV
Coding Violation (a performance-monitoring parameter)
CVFE
Coding Violation Far-End — An indication returned to the transmitting terminal that an
errored block has been detected at the receiving terminal.
D
DACS III-2000
Digital Access and Cross-Connect System that provides clear channel switching at either
the DS3 or the STS-1 rates, eliminating the need for manual DSXs.
DACS IV-2000
Digital Access and Cross-Connect System that provides electronic DS3/STS-1 or DS1/
VT1.5 cross-connect capability, eliminating the need for manual DSXs.
DCC
Data Communications Channel — The embedded overhead communications channel in
the SONET line. It is used for end-to-end communications and maintenance. It carries
alarm, control, and status information between network elements in a SONET network.
DCE
Data Communications Equipment — In a data station, the equipment that provides the
signal conversion and coding between the data terminal equipment (DTE) and the line.
The DCE may be separate equipment or an integral part of the DTE or of intermediate
equipment. A DCE may perform other functions usually performed at the network end of
the line.
DDM-1000
Lucent's Dual DS3 Multiplexer — A digital multiplexer that multiplexes DS1, DS1C, or
DS2 signals into a DS3 signal or a 90 Mb/s or 180 Mb/s optical signal.
DDM-Plus
Lucent's optical and electrical DS1 transport system. DDM-Plus transports up to four
DS1s per pair of optical fiber and can provide T1 extension over existing copper wires.
DDM-2000
Lucent's next generation network multiplexers that multiplex DS1, DS3, or EC-1 inputs
into EC-1, OC-1, OC-3, or OC-12 outputs.
Default Provisioning
The parameter values that are preprogrammed as shipped from the factory.
Demultiplexing
A process applied to a multiplexed signal for recovering signals combined within it and for
restoring the distinct individual channels of these signals.
