User Manual for the Meca500 Industrial Robot (for rmware 10.1) 5
SAFETY
2.1. Operating modes
Because of the robot's small size, it is not equipped with an operating mode switch and can operate only
in automatic mode. Therefore, the robot does not require a three-position enabling device, but must be
operated inside a safety enclosure (as in Figure3).
The power supply of the Meca500 must be outside the safety enclosure.
The Meca500 is not designed for collaborative robot applications. Furthermore, it can operate
only in automatic mode. Therefore, it must be operated inside a safety enclosure. Human
operators must not enter the safeguarded zone while the robot motors are powered.
You must follow the guidelines of ISO 12100:2010 and ISO 10218-2:2011 and conduct a risk
assessment of your complete robot cell, including the Meca500, its end-effector and all adjacent
equipment.
During non-routine operating conditions, such as setup and maintenance, it is imperative to
wear safety goggles. Additionally, ensure not to wear loose-fitting clothing or have loose long
hair that could potentially get entangled in the robot.
