4 First Use
Warning:
If errors are detected when the medin-NC3® is checked before rst use or if the medin-NC3® is found to be damaged
or does not behave as expected or as intended in the user manual, it must not be connected to a paent under
any circumstances.
The power supply unit should not be used if it has visible damage to the housing or cord.
The power supply unit should not be used in the direct vicinity of the paent since it may heat up to high
temperatures.
4.1 CPAP system components
A CPAP system based on a medin-NC3® comprises the following components:
- CPAP driver: the medin-NC3®
- Medijet® nCPAP generator together with a suitable prong or mask
- An acve respiratory gas humidier to humidify the respiratory gas (recommended)
- A paent tube circuit set that ts the paent gas outlet, CPAP pressure meter inlet of the medin-
NC3®, the Medijet® and the respiratory gas humidier selected
- A bonnet of the correct size
- A system for monitoring the paent’s oxygen saturaon and checking the ecacy of CPAP therapy
(this is an essenal condion for the use of the medin-NC3®)
Please note:
The medin-NC3® should always be used in combinaon with an acve respiratory gas humidier in order to avoid
the paent’s airways drying out and cooling.
The CPAP system must be established and the device checked before starng any CPAP therapy using the
medin-NC3®. This check starts automacally whenever the device is started up.
The device should not be connected to a paent during set-up and system start. Moreover, during set-up, system
start and operaon, the user should not simultaneously touch the paent and the device. This applies above all to
the power supply, the RS232 or USB interface and the accessible metal parts of the pneumac unit (gas connecons,
overpressure valve and mounng screws).
