9 Cleaning and Maintenance
Warning:
In order to avoid res, oxygen must not come into contact with oil or grease. It is therefore essenal to ensure that
all parts of the medin-NC3® and the CPAP system which come into contact with oxygen (e.g. gas feed tubes, O
2
inlet to the medin-NC3®, paent outlet, paent tubes and Medijet®) remain free from oil and grease even during
cleaning, repairs and maintenance.
While the device is in operaon on a paent, no cleaning, maintenance or repairs may be performed on the
medin-NC3® – including all points listed in chapter 9.
medin oers two dierent warranty terms:
- 3 years (REF 30-912) from the date of producon
- 5 years (REF 30-913) from the date of producon
These warranty expansions only relate to components with defects caused by producon, wear parts, as well as
soware problems. In addion, the customer must demonstrate that all required maintenance was performed.
Please note:
The following are not included in the warranty: physical damage, environmental damage (e.g. water or grease in
the device connecon, excessively high voltage), improper use (e.g. excessively high gas feed pressure) as well as
consumables (e.g. oxygen cells, lters, baeries).
9.1 Cleaning
The surface of the medin-NC3® should be disinfected using a slightly damp cloth
1
before rst use and every me
aer it has been used on a paent. 70% isopropyl alcohol soluon can be used for this purpose.
1
Slightly damp = Take a wet cloth and wring it out. Then wrap a dry cloth around the wet cloth and wring out
both of these cloths together once again.
Warning:
- The device must never be sterilized or immersed in a liquid soluon.
- No abrasive substances may be applied to the surface.
- No liquid may penetrate the device.
9.2 Device maintenance
The medin-NC3® must undergo maintenance and a funcon check in accordance with the manufacturer's
instrucons every 12 months. This must be carried out by trained specialists using appropriate measuring and
tesng equipment.
The following acons must be performed during this maintenance:
- The oxygen cells are regenerated or their service life is checked.
Type MLF-16 (REF MLF-16) oxygen cells must be replaced if they have less than one
year of service life le or no later than aer three years.
- Test of the device’s funconality and sensor calibraon.
- The internal 3-volt baery must be replaced as required or every three years at the latest. The
replacement baery must be a CR123A powerone from VARTA Microbaery GmbH (REF 39-102).
- The internal rechargeable baery must be replaced as required or every three years at the latest. The
replacement baery must be a rechargeable baery of the same type (can be ordered from medin,
REF 39-101).
Aenon: Use only approved cleaning agents for cleaning and disinfecon.
