Please note:
In order to be able to use the manual push funcon at all mes, the level of the addional push ow (F
insp
) should
be set in advance (e.g. at the start of the CPAP therapy) and adjusted as needed in the event of ow changes.
Factors that can exert an inuence on the adjusng CPAP pressure during a push:
- Paent’s respiraon: In a similar way to the pressure uctuaons that are caused by the paents
breathing during CPAP therapy and are displayed on the CPAP pressure curve along with other
parameters, the paents respiratory acvity has an inuence on the actual level of push which is
achieved.
- Tube system volume and push level: The volume of air in the tube system must be compressed
before the increased ow triggered by the medin-NC3® causes the CPAP pressure in the Medijet®
to rise. If large tube systems are used, or if the dierence between the basic ow and the total ow
during the push is considerable, it will take some me to reach the desired CPAP pressure. If the
duraon of the push is shorter than this me lag, it will not be possible to achieve the desired push
pressure.
- Changes to the CPAP system and changes in leakage condions: Since the user determines the
necessary amount of addional ow during a push (F
insp
), taking into account any leakage situaon
present at this point in me, the level of the push changes when the leakage changes. If the pressure
values during a push are too low, check for leaks and resolve them. Decreases in the leakage,
changes to the Medijet® and tube system or temperature eects may result in increased pressure
values during a push.
- The rao of inspiraon me and push ow has an inuence on the push pressure which can actually
be achieved. In the case of larger push ows and short inspiraon mes, it is possible that, due to
the sluggishness of the blower, the inspiraon me ends before the full push ow was reached and
transported through the tube system to the paent.
Triggering a manual push:
A push can be triggered manually in all CPAP modes of the medin-NC3®. This is done by pressing buon d in
Figure 5-2. The medin-NC3® responds to this by immediately triggering a push. The duraon of the triggered push
corresponds to the set duraon of the inspiraon. If the buon is held down, no addional push is triggered aer
the rst one has been completed. Another push can only be triggered by releasing the push buon and pressing
it again. The precondion for triggering a manual push is that a push ow (F
insp
) >0 L/min was set.
5.6 CPAP mode
CPAP mode provides a pure basic CPAP therapy. In this mode the medin-NC3® produces a constant ow all the
me which is converted into a constant CPAP pressure in the Medijet®.
