Tips
for
starting
(1)
Do
not
operate the starter
motor
co
ntinuou
sly
for
longer
than
10
seconds;
doing
so cou ld run
down
the battery.
If
the e
ngin
e does
not
sta rt, turn the
ignition
switch
back
to
the "LOCK" ,
wait
a f
ew
minut
es,
and then try again.

If the engine
ca
nnot
be started because
the
battery is
weak
or dead, refer
to
the emerg ency sta
rting
section
for instruc -
tion
s on sta rting the e
ngin
e.

After
starting the engine,
do
not
keep the e
ngin
e
idling
without
driving
.
Only
when
the atmospheric te
mper
a
tur
e is
very
low.

CAUTION
(1)
For
petrol
-
powered
vehicles

not
keep
the
en-
gine
running
for
a
long
time
in
a
closed
or
poorly
ventilated
place

Carbon
monoxide
gas
is
odourless
and
extremely
poisonous.
(2)
Do
not
run
the
engine
at
high
rpm
or
drive
the
vehicle
at
high
speed
until
the
engine
has
had
a
chance
to
warm
up
.
(3)
Release
the
ignition
key
as
soon
as
the
engine
starts
to
avoid
damaging
the
starter
motor.
(4)
For
diesel-powered
vehicles
do
not
stop
the
engine
immediately
after
operating
the
vehicle
at
high
speeds
.
Allow
the
engine
to
idle
for
approximately
60
seconds
or
more
to
give
the
turbocharger
a
chance
to
cool
down.
