PRIMARYFUELFILTER(cont.)
1.Setparkingbrakeandshifttransmissiontoparkorneutral.
NOTE:Boththeprimaryandsecondaryfuellterelements
shouldbereplacedduringthisserviceinterval.
WARNING:Topreventpersonalinjuryordeath,
makesurethattheenginehascooledbeforeremoving
components.
2.TurnignitionswitchtoOFFandallowenginetocoolbefore
removingcomponents.
WARNING:Topreventpersonalinjuryordeath,wear
safetyglasseswithsideshields.Limitcompressedair
pressureto30psi(207kPa).
CAUTION:Cleanareaaroundandabovefuellterhousing
beforeremovingfuelltercover.Thisprotectstheopenfuel
lterhousingfromcontaminantsfallingintothehousing.If
contaminantsdofallin,removethemandblowoutfuellter
housingwithcompressedairbeforeinstallinganewlter
element.Contaminantsreachinghigh-pressurefuelsystem
componentsmaycausecomponentfailure.
3.Cleanenginecompartmentcomponentsintheareaofthe
fuellterhousingusingcompressedair.Beforeremoving
thefuelltercap,wipethefuelltercapandtopportionof
fuellterhousingclean.Thispreventscontaminantsfrom
enteringthefuelsystem,whichcouldcauseenginefailure.
4.Loosentheprimaryfuelltercapcounterclockwisethreeand
31/2turnstoallowtheprimaryfuellterhousingtovent.
5.Ifthedesiredcollectioncontainerwillnottunderthewater
drainvalve,attachahosetotheendofthewaterdrainvalve.
6.Putasuitablecontainerunderthewaterdrainvalve.
7.Openwaterdrainvalveanddrainthefuellterassembly.
8.Recycleordisposeoffuelaccordingtoapplicable
regulations.
9.Removeprimaryfuelltercapandfuellterelementfrom
thefuellterhousing.
10.RemoveO-ringfromprimaryfuelltercapanddiscard
O-ring.
11.Removefuellterelementfromfuelltercapanddiscard
accordingtoapplicableregulations.
12.RemovetheO-ringfromtheprimaryfuellterelement.
13.Cleanmatingsurfaces.
