Firmware Program Upgrade
While line/trunk blade firmware is included as part of the CPU program, simply upgrading the CPU pro-
gram will not upgrade the firmware. To upgrade firmware, do the following procedures. For the details of
the commands below, refer to the “Command Manual”.
NOTE 1: Make sure that the appropriate blade is operating normally.
NOTE 2: The firmware upgrade can be performed on only one blade at a time. The upgrade cannot be
performed on multiple blades simultaneously. (This applies to the system with multiple units
also.)
NOTE 3: The firmware update takes about 2 to 3 minutes (depends on the file size).
NOTE 4: Do not unplug the blade or turn the SV8300 off while the firmware upgrade is in progress.
STEP1: Execute the Program Upgrade (On-line) or the Program Upgrade (Off-line).

Program Upgrade (Off-line) Page 4-60
STEP2: Identify the appropriate blade information (Unit No. and Slot No.) for upgrade.
STEP3: Designate the Unit No., Slot No. and blade type by CM05 Y=0.
STEP4: Install the appropriate blade into the slot designated by CM05 Y=0, and then execute CME8
Y=0 (Firmware upgrade).
• After the blade is reset, the firmware update starts. The Live LED flashes specially while the
firmware update is in progress.
STEP5: Confirm the upgrade status. The upgrade status of the firmware can be confirmed by the follow-
ing methods.
