External RF driver

RFII input
For operating dual AOTFs synchronously, connect the RF output of a second
External RF Driver to this BNC port. The SELECT will automatically switch the
output RF signals from the two External RF Drivers to the AOTFs.
RFI input
This BNC port receives the RF signal from the External RF Driver RF output. The
system automatically switches the signal to the AOTF configured in CONTROL.
RF Power I LED
Indicates if RF power is received at the RFI input from an External RF Driver.
BUS Through
Connects additional accessories to the External bus in a daisy chain
configuration. A bus defeater must be connected to this port if no other
accessories are used with the SuperK laser. Without a bus defeater at the end of
the accessory External bus daisy chain, the interlock loop circuit will be open and
emission disabled at the SuperK laser.
Bus input port
The bus input port connects accessories in a daisy chain with a SuperK laser.
SuperK lasers and their accessories connect using the NKTP External bus
protocol. The bus carries data communications, DC power and the interlock
signal from the laser to accessories connected on the bus.
Emission, Power and Interlock LEDs
See “Status LEDs” on page 26.
External RF driver
An External RF Driver (ERD) is an electrical driver for the AOTFs of the SELECT.
The ERD transmits an RF signal applied to an AOTF that can derive up to 8
desired wavelengths from the SuperK output spectrum.
The ERD is connected to the External bus of the SuperK laser system and is
managed using NKT Photonics CONTROL software. Based on the configuration
in CONTROL and the AOTF calibration, the ERD transmits an appropriate RF
signal to an AOTF crystal. The RF signal applied to the AOTF determines which
wavelengths are filtered (a maximum of 8 wavelengths).
