16-channel FWS For switching of up to 16 individual wavelengths, connect application signals to
module pins Blank and FSK pins 1 to 8. Table 13 shows a truth table
demonstrating the wavelengths selected based on the input signals from your
application.
Use profile 2 to configure the first 8 channels and profile 4 to configure the next
8. Figure 50 shows the configuration in CONTROL and how the configuration is
selected based on the input signals to the nine pins. To set up 16-channel fast
wavelength switching follow the steps in Procedure 9.

Note: You can also configure 16 wavelengths using profiles 1 and 3; however, the
logic of the signaling required for wavelength selection is reversed at the COM-
MAND module.
Procedure 9 Setting up 16-channel fast wavelength switching
1. In CONTROL, click on the SELECT device icon and ensure the mode is set to
Fast Wavelength Switching.
2. Select the VIS/NIR or NIR/IR crystal.
3. Set the modulation gain in the Setup page to the 0-5V range (see“VIS/NIR or
NIR/IR modulation gain” on page 48.
4. In each Profile 2 and 4, configure 2 to 8 channels with their desired
wavelengths. Figure 50 shows 8 channels configured in profiles 2 and 4 of a
VIR/NIR crystal.
5. Set the power level desired for a channel. The power level across profile
channels is constant. For example if you set channel 2 in profile 2 to 50%, the
power level of channel 2 in profile 4 will also be 50%.
